[aprssig] Object DENNI_ato Cannot Be Seen on RF Path

Folks,
I think you are missing the point of NORMAL every day APRS usage. That is
what the new settings are for but like everything else in life, you have to
be flexible and adjust to fit the situation. This Hurricane is a prime
example.
I am not sure what path you folks are using in your area (our normal one is
WIDE2-2 in the Pacific NW) but you should expand your path to its maximum
your system is configured for in order to reach as many stations as possible
via RF during a Hurricane or similar potential disasters. Here in the
Pacific NW we elected not to truncate a path of WIDE7-7 to allow for
situation like this one where we need to reach a much larger area on RF
which may cover several states including Canada. This was a safe thing to
do in our area since we have never had a problem with anyone using such an
absurd path for normal operations.
Flexibility is the key here. Change your path to a larger path when needed
to suit a specific situation, but be sure to change you path back to the
normal recommended settings once that situation is back to normal.
Just my two cents worth,
