Subject: Re: [aprssig] Having trouble with APRS setup

I bought a TinyTrak, wired it for 12 volts, plugged it in, and plugged
my TNC and Icom mobile into my pc so that I could verify what was being
transmitted from the APRS setup. The following line is being transmitted:

KD5YOU>RY3W5Y-3,RELAY,WIDE3-3:'{H<l"m>/"4(}TinyTrak3 Test

The only reason I can think of why I'm not being heard is that my signal
is too weak. Yesterday I went from my house to a friend's house, and
stayed about 27 miles from the AI5TX-2 digipeater. I believe there is
another digipeater about 6.5 miles south of here, but I don't know if it
works the same way. Either way my signal isn't being heard.

One question is this: What wattage/power is typically transmitted from
any given mobile when using APRS?
