This is interesting.  The important thing is that NexTel used to require that 
you be a registered developer in order to download an application into your 
phone, or any other customers phone.  This may have changed.  Many of the other 
cell provides support over the air (OTA) downloading via http requests using the 
built in web browser.

So, the primary issue with switching the software may be whether you can 
actually download the phone.  Second, the connectivity out of the phones is 
proxied on the 10.X.X.X network, so they have certain abilities in routing 
control, to limit what servers such a phone might connect to.
