Ron,

I have run my Compaq Presario laptop off a Radio Shack 140 watt inverter several times in the car with no problems. Be sure to get one that is rated for * more * wattage than what your laptop p.s. draws (my laptop draws 90 watts, so I use a 140 watt inverter).
