In my opinion, (as APRSdos does it), the user gets the warning
EVERYTIME his station transmits EACH packet.  Yes, he can 
use a long path if it is needed, but he must acknowledge the
warning on EVERY transmission...

That way it is not forgotten that he is using a non-standard 
path.  A BEEP and a warning in the middle of his map on 
every transmission gets the point across.

If it is a one-time warning, it is practically useless in my mind...
