I believe the original idea was to warn the user that it might be an
excessive path, not to block them from doing that. In an event or
emergency situation you sometimes have to go against the current
recommendations for your area, but of course on a temporary and
case-by-case basis. If the software prevented you from doing so,
you'd quickly look for another body of software that didn't.
