Can you talk to a winlink telpac node with no special
software?  If so, then that is ideal.  If not, then that is a 
significant problem for a come-as-you-are system...

Seriously, you guys need to look into Telpac Nodes, WinLink, etc., if
you 
have not done so.
Also keep in mind KPC3'+'s, etc have Pbbs capability built in.  They
work 
great in local events without the need
for any special software.
