[aprssig] x1j nodes

Wes,
I can get our X1J node to show up on Ui-View if I use the relaxed packet
rules. The real problem is that I need to replace that chip with a smart
digi chip and use Bob's new tips to make the QRM go down. I sent a message
to him for suggestions on good setting based on his ideas.

Subject: [aprssig] x1j nodes

I know that x1j digipeaters add a little something to the beginning of the
beacon text making a position packet not decode in any aprs client (used to
in
DOS aprs, but not any more as I recall).

My question is this: Instead of programming the beacon text to be the
position,
why not program the beacon text to contain a 3rd party packet, and have the
encapsulated 3rd party packet actually contain the location of the
digipeater?
Would that be decodable by any aprs clients?

Wes
